Summary

In October 1976, the Uruguayan Armed Forces exhibited to the media a group of militants kidnapped in Buenos Aires months before, as if they had just been captured in national territory. The assembly sought to counteract the international campaign for human rights violations in Uruguay and was possible because the State had a monopoly on information on the anti-subversive struggle.
